Trabajadores siguen unidos dentro de sus lugares de trabajo y atreves de Minneapolis y St. Paul para ganar victorias! Y sus esfuerzos no paran allí. En los últimos meses, trabajadores líderes se han reunido para desarrollar estrategias para hacer cambios sistémicos que beneficiarían a todos los trabajadores en Minneapolis y St. Paul. El 23 de Febrero este grupo de trabajadores organizó y dirijió un evento comunitario para celebrar las victorias del centro laboral y para presentar una nueva dirección para nuestro trabajo. Con un grupo de más de 100 personas reunidas, trabajadores compartieron su visión de crear una campañia para eliminar las raíces de las injusticias que gente enfrenta en el trabajo. Los trabajadores están comprometidos a crear este movimiento. Cada día más y mas personas se están haciendo miembros del centro. ¡Todos juntos nos están llevando en el camino hacia justicia!

Workers continue to stand together within and across workplaces to win victories throughout the Twin Cities! And workers have not stopped there. Over the past few months, worker leaders have met to discuss strategies for creating systemic change that benefit all workers in Minneapolis and St. Paul. On February 23^rd this group of workers organized and led a community event to celebrate worker center victories and introduce a new direction for our work. With a group of over 100 people gathered, workers put forth their vision to build a campaign targeting the root causes of injustices that people face at work. Workers are committed to building this movement. They are becoming members of the center in greater and greater numbers. And they are leading all of us down the path toward justice!

En los últimos 6 meses los trabajadores se han unido con el Centro Interfé de Justicia Laboral para luchar por mejores condiciones de trabajo por todas las Ciudades Gemelas. Las victorias que se han ganado son resultado de las estrategias tomadas por los trabajadores, el trabajo organizativo y el tomar acción directa unidos para confrontar los problemas que enfrentan muchos trabajadores. Por medio de nuestro trabajo, hemos además ganado una victoria aún mayor: ¡hemos empezado a desarrollar liderazgo y construir poder entre los trabajadores de bajos ingresos por todas las Ciudades Gemelas como un primer paso para crear cambios a largo plazo para todos los trabajadores!

Over the past 6 months workers have joined together at the Interfaith Center for Workers Justice to fight for improvements in working conditions across the Twin Cities. The victories we have won are the result of workers strategizing, organizing, and taking direct action together to confront issues being faced by many workers. Through this work, we have also won a bigger victory- we have begun to develop leadership and build power amongst low-wage workers across the Twin Cities as a first step in creating long lasting changes that benefit all workers!

Best Brands Workers ~ Bakery ~ The first raise in 3 years, improved working conditions, and an example set, for both employers and workers, of what can happen when employers place their profits above fair treatment of workers! 

This fall, a new opportunity to win a union for Walker workers emerged and the Peace with Justice Committee at Walker, along with new pastor Rev. Walter Lockhart, got engaged immediately. In February, the congregation recruited almost 20 volunteers to go door to door in cold weather to ask neighbors in South Minneapolis to sign a petition calling on Walker Methodist Health Care to negotiate with workers. The committee also sought out a dialogue with Walker Methodist Health Care’s board members and eventually met directly with Walker Methodist Health Care CEO Lynne Starkovich.
