Over the past 6 months workers have joined together at the Interfaith Center for Workers Justice to fight for improvements in working conditions across the Twin Cities. The victories we have won are the result of workers strategizing, organizing, and taking direct action together to confront issues being faced by many workers. Through this work, we have also won a bigger victory- we have begun to develop leadership and build power amongst low-wage workers across the Twin Cities as a first step in creating long lasting changes that benefit all workers! Walker Workers WIN!

Workers at Walker Methodist Health Center and their allies in the religious community won an important victory this week. They have waited nearly four years for their employer, the largest nursing home in the state, and the National Labor Relations Board to honor their decision to form a union with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This week, both the NLRB and Walker Methodist CEO Lynne Starkovich indicated that initial negotiations for a first contract with workers and their union will begin soon! Religious leaders have been walking with Walker Workers since the beginning of this campaign. I’m Lovin It! Justice At McDonalds

The Coalition of Immokalee Workers announced recently that McDonalds has agreed to protect the rights and raise the pay of tomato growers in their food production chain. McDonalds joins Taco Bell in its commitment to stand up for the rights of these workers. The Coalition’s next target? Well, let’s just say that we’ll see you at the home of the Whopper!
